A New Year is Almost Here!

Greetings,

The beginning of a school year is synonymous with excitement and joy. The prospect of reuniting with friends, meeting new classmates, and starting fresh with a blank slate can be exhilarating. This enthusiasm is not limited to students; teachers and administrators also share in the anticipation of what the new year will bring. Parents play a crucial role in amplifying this excitement. By fostering a positive attitude towards school, you can help your children approach the year with enthusiasm. Encouraging conversations about what to expect, setting goals together, and getting involved in school activities can further enhance this sense of joy and anticipation.

With each new school year comes the chance to explore fresh experiences and significant advancements across Cherry Hill Public Schools. This year, our preschool expansion continues at a remarkable pace with new classes opening at KinderCare and Cadence Academy. At the elementary level, teachers will be implementing a new ELA curriculum, and all schools will adopt Eureka Squared for mathematics, ensuring our students receive the most effective and engaging instruction.

The district is also embarking on several major projects, including elementary redistricting and the development of a new 5-Year Strategic Plan. Our bond construction projects are progressing steadily, leading to essential infrastructure upgrades throughout the district. Additionally, based on recommendations from the communications audit report, we are excited to announce an upcoming redesign of the district website.

Students will find themselves immersed in interactive lessons that go beyond the textbook, participating in real-world experiences of their learning. Through experiential learning opportunities and innovative approaches, these new experiences will help develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for future success. For teachers, the new year offers a platform to introduce creative teaching techniques tailored to the diverse needs of our students. We have extended the professional development calendar, adding two additional days to ensure that our educators are equipped with the latest strategies to foster a rigorous and supportive classroom environment.

For teachers, the joy comes from the opportunity to inspire and impact their students positively. Each new year offers a chance to create memorable learning experiences and build lasting relationships with students. This shared excitement sets a positive tone for the entire academic year, making it a more enjoyable and productive experience for everyone involved.

One of the most appealing aspects of a new school year is the opportunity for a complete redo. It's a chance to learn from past mistakes, make necessary adjustments, and start anew with a clean slate. This mindset fosters a growth-oriented approach, where setbacks are viewed as learning opportunities rather than failures.  Students can take this opportunity to reassess their study habits, organizational skills, and time management strategies. By identifying what worked and what didn't, they can make informed decisions on how to improve their academic performance. This proactive approach empowers students to take control of their learning and strive for better results.

A positive and optimistic mindset is essential for a successful school year. Approaching challenges with a solution-oriented attitude and focusing on the possibilities rather than the limitations can significantly impact the overall learning environment. Students who adopt an optimistic outlook are more likely to persevere through difficulties and maintain their motivation. Encouraging a growth mindset, where effort and determination are valued over innate ability, can help students develop resilience and a love for learning.

By embracing new experiences, adopting a positive mindset, and working together as a community, we can ensure a successful and enriching year for all. Let's approach this school year with enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence, knowing that we are all working towards our personal and collective goals.
Get excited about the return of the school year!
